Dr Allen is a consultant physician specialising in diabetes and endocrinology working at CircleBath. Having completed her medical training in Southampton, Kate spent time training in general medicine in Bournemouth and Poole. After gaining her MRCP, she moved to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to begin specialist diabetes training. She also completed a period of research into the effects of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar).
Kate finished her clinical training in diabetes and endocrinology in Oxford and was fortunate enough to spend a year of further specialist training in New Zealand before taking up her Consultant post in Bath.
Kate lives with her partner and baby daughter. Most of her spare time is spent with her family but she also enjoys playing the viola and performs with the Bath symphony and Keynsham symphony orchestras.
She is a keen swimmer and scuba diver and enjoys hill walking. She acts as medical adviser and expedition doctor to a group of hill walkers with diabetes. This year they completed Wainwright's "coast to coast".
